Not protected species in Bulgaria.

Description and identification

Verbascum roripifolium is a biennial herbaceous plant, completely covered with glandular hairs. The flowers are arranged singly. The bracts are entire. The anthers of the stamens are unequal, on two of them they are oblong, running down the stamen filaments, on the others they are kidney-shaped, attached to the filaments in the middle. The basal leaves are pinnately dissected, their petiole is glabrous¹.

Habitat

Limestone cliffs, rocky terrain, scree and dry grassy areas in lowlands and in the lower mountain belt².

Distribution in Bulgaria

Struma Valley (southern), Slavyanka Mountain, Mesta River Valley (Obidim village, Razlog), Rila (between Predela and Simitli), Rhodope Mountains, Thracian Lowland (southeastern parts) from 100 to 800 m altitude³.

General distribution

Southern Bulgaria and Northeastern Greece. Balkan endemic⁴.
