Description and identification

Melica nutans is a perennial herbaceous plant. Stem to 60 cm high. Lemmas with 5-9 prominent veins. Flowernig May-June¹.

Distribution in Bulgaria

In the floristic regions: Northeastern Bulgaria, The Predbalkan, Stara Planina, Znepole Region, West Frontier Mountains, Vitosha Region, The Rila, The Pirin, Slavyanka, The Rhodopes and The Strandzha; from 0 to 2000 meters altitude².

General distribution

Europe (absent in northern Scandinavia and Russia, as well as in Ireland and southern Europe), Caucasus, Siberia, Central Asia, China, Japan³.
