Description and identification

Perennial herbaceous plant, stems are to 15 см tall. Leaves 2-3, linear-lanceolate, 5-9 mm wide, flat, erect, shorter than the inflorescence, narrowed at the base. Inflorescence ovate. Perianth 2.5-4 mm, globose or ovate, dove-blue (rarely white), with recurved white teeth. Fruit capsule obovate. Flowering March to May1.


Habitat

Light forests, scrub, meadows, grasslands and grassy areas2.


Distribution in Bulgaria

Widespread throughout the country from sea level to 2900 m altitude3.
