Carduus personata (L.) Jacq.

Conservation status and threats

NOT protected species in Bulgaria.

Description and identification

Herbaceous perennial plant, reaching a height to 2 m. The stem almost to the flower heads with prickly longitudinal edges. The leaves are soft, with small prickly bristles on the edge, dark green above, woolly below. Flowering July-August^[1].

Habitat

Along the streams to the upper part of the forest zone and in the alpine zone^[2].

Distribution in Bulgaria

In the mountains of Stara Stara Planina, Vitosha, Rila, Western and Middle Rhodopes, between 1500 and 2400 m above sea level^[3].
