Carduus crispus is a biennial herbaceous plant, 60 to 150 cm tall. Stem erect, slightly woolly, prickly winged to the flower heads. Leaves almost glabrous above, woolly below, soft, oblong-lanceolate, deeply toothed, the lower with petioles, the upper sessile. Blooms April-August[1].
Northeastern Bulgaria, Predbalkan, Danube Plain and Vitosha; between 1000 and 2000 meters altitude[3].
