PROTECTED species in Bulgaria.

Description and identification

Perennial herbaceous plant. Flowering stems erect, 20 to 40 cm high. The flowers are from 2 to 3 (rarely up to 4) cm in diameter, white, rarely pink on the outside, arranged in a simple umbellate inflorescence, composed of 3 to 8 (rarely 1 - 2) flowers. Flowering July-August¹.

Habitat

Grassy alpine and rocky places².

Distribution in Bulgaria

In the mountains Central and Western Stara Planina, Vitosha, Osogovska, Pirin, Rila, Western Rhodopes, from 1800 to 2750 m above sea level³.

General distribution

Europe (excluding the islands and its easternmost parts), Asia, North America ⁴.
