А perennial herbaceous plant. Tubers oblong or cylindrical, short 2-4-lobed at the top, rarely whole. The stem up to 25 cm high, leafy to the top. Leaves 4-5, unspotted, the lower obovate-lanceolate, broadest at the apex, obtuse, the upper 1-2 lanceolate, narrowed towards the base, gradually decreasing in size as they ascend the stem. The uppermost ones reach the inflorescence. Inflorescence oval, not very dense. Bracts broadly lanceolate, longer than the ovary, the lower ones longer than the flowers. Flowers copper red or pale yellow, odorless. Perianth leaves oblong-ovate, obtuse, the outer ones curled back, the inner ones gathered. The lip is semicircular in outline, with a wavy edge, in front sometimes vaguely three-parted with spots in the middle. Spur stout, cylindric-conical, directed downwards, as long as the ovary or longer. Flowering April-June1.
