Description and identification

Epilobium alsinifolium is a perennial herbaceous plant. Height 10 to 25 cm. The rhizome has underground shoots with yellowish, fleshy, scale-like leaves. Flowering June-September¹.

Habitat

Near streams, lakes, springs, snowfields, in swampy pine plantations, on marshy pastures and wet slopes - mainly in the mountain, subalpine and alpine zones².

Distribution in Bulgaria

In the mountains of Western and Central Stara Planina, Vitosha region, Western Border Mountains (Osogovska Planina), Belasitsa, Pirin (Northern), Rila, Sredna Gora (Western), Western and Central Rhodopes³.
