Description and identification

Trifolium alpestre is a perennial herbaceous plant. Stems several, 15-40 cm high, erect or ascending, simple or slightly branched. The individual leaflets are 2 to 5 cm long and 6-12 mm wide, linear to linearly elliptical in shape, lanceolate elliptical. Flower heads 3-5 cm long, ovoid or spherical, dense, with many flowers, single or two per stem, one of which is less developed. Corolla purple, dark red, pink or white, after flowering light brown. Blooms June-July.[1]


Distribution in Bulgaria

Across the country between 600 and 2000 meters above sea level.[2]
