Description and identification

Perennial herbaceous plant. Leaves 4-20 (30) cm long, pinnate, with 1-6 cm long petioles. Leaflets (9) 10-14 (15) pairs, 4-13 mm long, 2-7 mm wide, petiolate, oblong-obovate to obovate-cordate. Corolla 10-12 mm long, bicolor whitish bluish-purple. Flowering May-July1.


Habitats

On sunny, dry, stony calcareous terrains, mainly in the foothills and mountains2.


Distribution in Bulgaria

In the following floristic regions: Western and Middle Rhodopes, Stara Planina, Znepol region, Western border mountains, Vitoshki, Slavyanka, Pirin, Sredna gora, Black Sea coast (north), from 0 to 1800 meters altitude3.


General distribution

Southern Europe (north to northeastern Switzerland), Southwest Asia (Asia Minor)4.
