Perennial tufted herbaceous plant. Stems 5–18 cm high. Flowering June-August¹.

On rocks and rocky places².

Across the country from 200 to 2500 m altitude³.

Europe (excluding Iceland and the northernmost and eastern parts), Southwest Asia, Caucasus, North Africa⁴.
