Description and identification

Perennial herbaceous plant. Stems 30 to 60 (90) cm tall. Petals dark purple to pale pink; at the top distinctly incised into two or four lobes. Blooms May-August¹.

Habitat

In wet and marshy meadows, on the periphery of marshes, sparse scrub with moist soil².

Distribution in Bulgaria

Throughout the country from sea level to 1400 meters altitude³.

General distribution

Europe, Siberia, Caucasus. Introduced to North America⁴.
