Conservation status and threats

NOT protected species in Bulgaria.

Description and identification

Herbaceous perennial plant 25 to 60 cm (10-24 in) tall. The leaves are lyrate-pinnatifid, terminal leaflet ovate. The inflorescence is a corymbose raceme. Flowering season: June-August^[1].

Habitat

Wet mountain meadows and streams in the high mountain belt^[2].

Distribution in Bulgaria

Found in the following mountains: Rila, Pirin, Stara Planina (western and middle), The Rhodopes (western and middle) and West Frontier Mountains; between 1600 and 2200 m (≈5250-7200 ft) altitude^[3].

Balkan endemic - grows only in the mountains of the Balkan Peninsula^[5].
