Steptorhamphus tuberosus (Jack.) Grosh. Synonyms: Lactuca tuberosa Jacq.; Lactuca cretica Desf.
NOT protected species in Bulgaria.
Herbaceous perennial glabrous plant, 10 to 70 cm tall. The leaves are fleshy, the basal ones are petiolate, the stem leaves are sessile (without petioles) with auricles. The beak of the fruits (achenes) are 2-3 times longer than achene body. The achene body is strongly flattened. Flowering May-July1.
In the next floristic regions: The Black Sea coast, Stara Planina (Eastern), The Struma Valley, The Tundzha Hilly Plane, Sredna gora (Eastern), The Rhodopes (Eastern and Middle), Thracian Plane and The Pirin (Southern); up to 1000 m alt2.
