Herbaceous perennial plant, 5 to 25 cm tall. Leaves linear, glabrous. Flower head single on top of the stem. Involucre with spirally arranged black bracts covered with long and curly black hairs. Flowering (July) August-October.
In the marshy and peaty meadows and near the lakes in the high mountain belt.
In the Rila, Pirin, Middle Stara Planina and Vitosha Mountains, between 2000 and 2500 meters above sea level.
