NOT protected species in Bulgaria.

Description and identification

Herbaceous perennial plant. Stems upright, 30-80 cm long. Stem hairs are two type: protruding, rough, 8-25 mm long and tiny stellate hairs. Leaves are 20-200 mm long with long simple hairs. The involucre cylindrical, 12-17 mm long, with numerous stellate hairs and long simple rough hairs. Flowering June-August ^[1].

Distribution in Bulgaria

Stara Planina, Vitosha Region, West Frontier Mountains, The Belasitsa, The Pirin, The Rila, Sredna gora, The Tundzha Hilly Plane, The Rhodopes; between 400 and 2000 meters altitude^[2].

General distribution

Balkans and Asia Minor^[3].
