Description and identification

Foeniculum vulgare is a biennial or perennial herbaceous plant. The stems are 90 to 200 cm long. Flowering June-July¹.

Habitat

On moist grassy and stony places, near roads and houses².

Distribution in Bulgaria

In the next floristic regions: Predbalkan, Stara Planina (Eastern), Sredna gora, Sofia region, Struma Valley (Southern), Rhodopes (Western), Thracian lowland, Tundzhan hilly plain, Black Sea coast; from sea level to 800 meters altitude³.

General distribution

Southern and Southeast Europe, the Mediterranean, Southwest Asia, and North Africa. In the northern and central parts of Europe it grows in nature⁴.
